Global Warming Mug
I was reading the Volokh conspiracy, and came across the loss of civil liberties mug. Pour coffee in it, and your civil rights disappear. Interesting.
Even more interesting is that Amazon tells us people who bought the disappearing civil liberties mug also bought the global warming mug.
Those buying the disappearing civil liberties cup also bought the Hillary Nutcracker.
Those who bought the Hillary Nutcracker tended to buy… erhmmm..
(P.S. Yes. This post is just stupid. I’m often intrigued by stupid commercial stuff, and if I can’t post stupid things at my blog, what’s the good is a blog?

I had actually read something about the global warming mug. If I recall, the increased sea levels shown on the mug are exagerations, and simply not possible even if Greenland and Antartica icesheets melted. Tis a beautiful example of propaganda.

No, that’s what would happen if we filled the oceans with hot tea…

Raphael– Mugs with disappearing ink are only fun if lots of stuff disappears!
I googled a bit at Amazon to see other global climate change trinkets. It’s sort of funny. I found shoes that are supposed to be connected to reducing climate change. I couldn’t see how!

There’s lots of money to be made off of people who are concerned about climate change. And who said it’s all just a communist hoax?

Look! I just added Amazon book ads!
I noticed the longer or wider ads tend to display books spanning from red-hot alarmist to stone-cold denialists. The smaller ads only show one book at a time. Truly, there must be money to be made.

Lucia,
The best propaganda is fun propaganda.

Raphael–
Absolutely. I’m sure I can find t-shirts, mugs, banners and all sorts of junk!

There is also a new global warming rug (with a lonely polar bear adrift on a chunk of ice) which I spoofed on my blog here…

advertising on the net can be fun.
I use Gmail and get the most amusing ads when I open emails. If you sent me something about Nigeria, I’d get about 10 of those Google ads down the side of the screen about cheap airfare to Lagos. It makes me laugh for some reason.

Oh, as to your Amazon ad at the right–I have to say I liked The Great Warming by Brian Fagan the best, although I do feel he may have downplayed how great the Medevial Warm Period actually may have been.

Here is a “sea level rise” mug for GW skeptics.

I wonder if anyone has come up with an Ice Age glass that covers the world image with glaciers if filled with a cold drink?
My Great Aunt used to have a white rug (In fact I seem to recall 2) with a bear’s head (not so uncommon I guess in the first half of the 20th century). I assume it was a young polar bear. It would have been too small for a full adult pelt I imagine.
I have no idea what happened to it when she passed away.
I wonder if such a thing might be found on eBay these days? I would guess not even if someone had one to offload.
Different times and different issues to be concerned about.
