El Niño Watch: Animation.

20 July, 2009 (21:03) | Data Comparisons Written by: lucia

I thought it would be fun to string together an El Niño animation. This script strings NOAA’s Operational SST Anomaly Charts for 2009.

Watch color along the equatorial pacific change from blue in January to orange now. Those indicate cool temperatures in the equatorial Pacific warming as conditions transition from La Nina to El Nino.

Now that I’ve figure out how to do this I’ll be stringing together more pictures. Fun! :)

Excellent stuff. Thanks, Lucia. You can see the unusual warming near Darwin that the BOM discuss in today’s update very clearly.
