Teaching myself R at home, with no resources other than the web is a bit daunting. But, I’m up for it. My step was to download the manual: An introduction to R
Inside, I find these section titles:
- Preface.
- Introduction and Preliminaries
- Simple Manipulations, numbers, vectors.
- Objects, their modes and attributes.
- Ordered and unordered factors.
- Arrays and Matrices.
- Reading Data From Files.
- Probability distributions.
- Grouping, Loops and conditional execution.
- Writing your own functions.
- Statistical Models in R.
- Graphical Procedures.
- Packages.
- A sample session.
- Invoking R.
- The command-line editor.
- Function and variable index.
- Concept index.
- References.
I flipped through each section briefly to familiarize myself with the terminlogy and features. After that, I immediately jumped in with both feet and began trying to apply R to a sample problem I had assigned myself.
You’ll see the order will be bizarre, but now that I’ve written this blog entry, I’ll be able to link back and help any one who may eventually come across my blog find the manual. 🙂
