As is appropriate on SOPA/PIPA protest day, for about for about 1/2 hour, a few of you got banned at cloudflare. Why? Well, a bot tried to reload the root page at least 27,493 times between 6:57 am and 6:47 am. I’ve been fiddling to block the strategy it used. If it’s any consolation, I banned myself. Of course, I noticed I was banned, unbanned myself and anyone else who got blocked this morning.

Since it is SOPA/PIPA protest day, I’m encouraging you to sign Google’s petition.

My general impression is the law is written too broadly and opens up the possibility of various copyright troll entities popping up and getting many services shut down. If anyone knows more, feel free to inform us.

(Now, back to bot banning. If you are seeing the cloudflare ban page…. well… then you aren’t reading this. So, there is no point my telling you what to do.)
