Everyone, have a happy 4th!

One of my students has a midterm tomorrow. Boy, I feel sorry for him. Summer session is 10 weeks, so it doesn’t give much flexibility for the test schedule. I have to admit, if I were the prof, I’d have done my best to give the test on the 2nd or 3rd so kids could stay up late to enjoy fireworks and so on. Maybe it just wasn’t possible though. (They don’t meet the 6th.)

Am I meeting with the student today? Yep! Studying the day before the final is useful.

    Nope, didn’t know that. I don’t much follow sports. On the last thread there was some discussion of how French people sort out identity (national / personal, sort of.). I’ve been trying to encourage immigration to this thread, but everybody knows I’m a nazi-hearted ICE loving gestapo and nobody wants to come here. They know that sooner or later I’ll have to call for open borders, which I’ll never live down…
    Mostly I’m just being silly.

  6. ICE stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In the US recently there’s been a movement to abolish ICE. It’s been difficult to determine what this movement is really all about. Tom Scharf got the ball rolling on this here at comment 168892 I think.

  10. The climate, hmm. Either same as it ever was or we’re a few dozen years past a tipping point, give or take a few dozen years. My models generally disagree with my observations, which is what my simple meta model consistently predicts ought to happen, so. If I could figure out what that’s telling me it seems like there ought to be an advantage for me there, but I haven’t puzzled it out so far.
