Guess the name of a cop-in-the-news who has been charged with tax fraud?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/former-officer-charged-in-george-floyd-killing-faces-felony-tax-charges-11595462396\">Chauvin charged with tax evasion<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Discussing Chauvin and his wife the WSJ tells us<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The pair are accused of underreporting their taxes by a total of $464,433 between 2014 and 2019, according to the complaint. They owe a total of $37,868 in back taxes and penalties.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s not chump change!<\/p>\n<p>But the <i>real<\/i> kicker is in the first paragraph<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged in the killing of George Floyd, faces new allegations of felony tax fraud, including failure to report more than $95,000 over several years working as a security guard at a bar where <i>Mr. Floyd also once worked as a bouncer.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t say they worked there at the same time.  But I can&#8217;t help but think if the two were acquainted, there is any <i>hint<\/i> of negative feeling, and the jury learns of this, that will color the jury&#8217;s view of other facts.
