Fakegate traffic

I’ve rented a few more squirrels to deal with fakegate traffic:

This is not bots traffic which always looks like a spike. It’s real.

(Those who would like to feed the squirrels: The donations script works in the sense that it will accept your donation and correctly indicate your choice of showing your donation or not. However, the call to the database then ignores what you said. To the consternation of those who want to keep donations private, it was showing them. I’ve looked at the script and I’m pretty sure I know how to fix it… but that’s for tomorrow.

Those who don’t want to feed the squirrels, that’s ok too. Obviously I’m cheap and keep operating costs down. Have fun talking!

But if any of you are “Rusty Trawler” (aka “The Anonymous Donor”) I expect $20K. )*

  1. Lucia,

“Obviously I’m cheap and keep operating costs down.”
    Context please. 😉

But seriously, I am a bit in arrears… I will pay up in the next few days.

  2. SteveF–
No worries. This is partly to show people this story is driving traffic. I’m sure we’d see similar jumps in traffic at many climate blogs. Of course, I suspect traffic to blogs using the term “fakegate” has risen more briskly than to those that wrote up their stories quoting the claimed-fake document as if it were certainly real.

  3. The parentheses, are a nice touch, but you need to use more punctuation marks – (e.g., -, and ,) so that your point gets across more fully (or not). The lack of sufficient punctuation, will, undermine your science communicator credentials.

  4. FakeGate was truly fascinating (no, honestly)! Like a good – or great – detective story. Thanks to everyone who contributed to; – and helped out with, – the entertainment.
