Jim Wants a Floor Stapler Haiku

Jim’s Flooring

My husband is something of a handy-man. From time to time, he decides to take up a project. This spring’s project is redecorating the upstairs. Over the past few weeks, he’s been painting, refinishing and what not. Sometimes, I have to help. (But not often.)

On Wednesday, Luis, the driver from Yellow Shipping arrived with a shipment of flooring. He and I carried boxes of flooring into the garage. (This was very nice of Luis as he was really just supposed to put it in the driveway. Also.. I only shlepped a few boxes. Jim arrived and took over.)

So, why is the flooring in the living room? We didn’t want this stuff sitting in the damp garage where it might warp. Anyway, the company advises us to let it acclimate to the house before installing.

So I bribed my brothers-in-law, aka “The Twins”, and husband to get the flooring out of the garage. How? By fixing tacos for the in-laws. (The twins are easy to bribe, but the bribe only works I also make “hot cabbage”. No, you probably won’t like it, but we do.)

Now, the flooring is in the living room. The next step is to buy Jim a “Bostitch MIIIFS 1-1/2-Inch to 2-Inch Pneumatic Floor Stapler”. So, naturally, I figured I’d stick the Amazon associate link here. After all, what are blogs for?

When the thing arrives, maybe I’ll show you how cool it is!

  1. Oh my gosh… I had to look that up. I think I’ll stick with Americanized Haiku. It may be insipid, but at least it’s trivial.

  2. Six punch, seven punch, eight punch, now.
Flat and fine all around, yea!

  3. Decomposition
    of rational transforms
    keeps me awake

And requires coffe which I unfurtunately cannot drink anymore. And anyhow my poor attempt at Haiku sounds better in Swedish 😉

I got a wodden floor in my apartment, 20 metres across. Wide gaps in winter and a certain bouncy feeling at summer provides for some forced seasonal redecoration… Let the floor float with large gaps under the trim wood!

  4. planks of tongue and groove
    curing in the living room,
    awaiting stapling.

I had more lurid versions but thought better of it.

  5. DIY is fun if you have a chance to buy and use a new power tool.

This is what boys live for.

“You mean I can use a gun while flooring…..??”
