Change log tease….

As many of you are aware, I am addicted to watching the monthly temperatures update. I was a bit surprised when “Change Detection” alerted me to a change of the GISS SST page. It seemed a bit early for November’s temperatures to appear. Still I visited the land/ocean temperature page. Sure enough, it is too early for GISS to have compiled the October temperatures.

Click here to see the changes highlighted in yellow. Yes. That’s right, the word “centigrade” was changed to “celsius” etc. Change detection. Such a tease. . .

  1. I get the following message when I click the link:

“Access method not allowed. Access to this page by GET is not allowed.”

  2. Chad– Hmmm…. I guess I can’t send you there directly. I’ll have to take a screen shot.

The only things changed were things like centigrade to celcius. or switching from an abbreviation for farenheit to the full word. I was hoping for some excitement!

  3. Lucia-
I went to the website directly and looked up giss temp and found it. At least you know the website is doing its job.

  4. Chad–
I have change logs on GISS & Hadley. I can’t set one for NOAA because it won’t check ftp sites. I know of changes within 24 hours. (My readers still beat change detection quite often though!)

  5. It appears that the correction algorithm for GISS historical temperature data is sometimes triggered when Dr. Hansen adds friends on his Facebook page. The correction Module (“OmniModifGISS”) is called by typing “OMG.” As a BFF I get notified when that happens.
