The final date for betting on October’s UAH temperature anomaly is fast approaching. Above, you can see my (now familiar) graph showing the Channel 5 AMSU readings for October to date.

As you can see, Channel 5 AMSU tells us the October started out hot, but has recently cooled. Is this “real”? Is it satellite drift? Only Roy knows for sure. (Remember, Roy does not use the Channel 5 AMSU, he uses the aqua satellite which doesn’t drift. But Channel 5 is the closest “proxie” we have reporting daily estimates of the tropospheric temperature. )

Frequently asked questions:

  1. What’s a Quatloo? A quatloo is a monetary unit on the planet Triskelion.
  2. Can I change my bet? Yes. Just enter a new bet. The program will count your final bet in any particular pool.

  4. Could the script used for betting be screwed up? Yes. If it’s pretty new but it’s been working fine. Let me know if anything goes wrong.
  5. Will the script used for betting be improved over time? Yes. Sometime. I’m planning to write a portion to track and post the long term winnings soon.
  6. When will results be announced? Results are scheduled to be announced as quite soon after Dr. Spencer posts his observations. However, last month, family matters interfered. I anticipate posting results by Nov. 6, 2009.

  1. Gordon– You might win. Who knows? I always bet a number very close to what channel 5 says just before “les jeux son faits!”
