I’m off on family business and will be away until October 10. (I’m helping my ailing Dad in Sarasota fly to Albuquerque where my brother lives.)
I will probably be impossible for me to get onto the ‘net until I get back. So, the final results for UAH bets will be delayed. (Sorry!)
In the meantime, I’ve set comments on all posts to auto-close after 4 days. (I’ll pre-date an open thread to permit people to continue conversations, but I figure doing this will keep any thread from hitting some ridiculous number of comments.)
Wish me luck with my Dad. (I’ll need it!)
I too have an ailing dad (Alzheimers) that I have had to travel with several times. I really do wish you luck.
Dear Lucia,
These types of trips are the tough ones, but fullfill a lifetime’s love and support.
God speed and best wishes for a safe and successful trip.
Lucia,
Good luck. We’ll pray for you, too. 😉
Andrew
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
Lucia,
Let me add my best wishes to you and your family.
¡Buena suerte!! (good luck!!!)
Safe journey
I hope your trip goes well.
Best wishes.
Make sure his feathers are well attached. That is a long flight!! ;>)
Best wishes, and be well.
Stefan took advantage of your absence and wrote a piece on 10 year giss trends on realclimate.

Aww… best wishes and a safe trip to you both.
UAH at .42! They must have really drifted over a warm spot given what the graphs showed this month.
Looks like all your quatloos belong to me!
Interestingly, the outcome was still higher than the “wisdom of the crowd”. The average bet was 0.325, with the weighted average bet (weighted by the number of quats bet) was 0.315.
JK,
To what graphs do you refer?
I hope your dad is OK. Have a safe trip.
David –
The ones referred to here : http://rankexploits.com/musings/2009/sept-channel-5-amsu-anomaly/
They are the daily anomaly graphs from UAH – you can get to them through http://www.drroyspencer.com
They showed a projected anomaly in high .5’s – but that uses an older satellite with some drift problems, so it’s often not the final anomaly, which comes from a different satellite and requires calibration before release.
JK,
Thanks. I wasn’t sure. 🙂
Those trips are the proof of love and caring. I hope it went well, and I hope the move works out for your father and the rest of your family.

Thanks. Things seem to be 50% sorted now. But we have 1 big potential stumbling block ahead. In two weeks, we’ll either have things 100% sorted, or we’ll be back to 10% sorted!
