Lisle Tea Party: Next to Eyes to The Skies.

Happy 4th of July! Jim and I usually just walk down to Eyes to the Skies to see the hot air baloons, watch firecrackers and eat junk food. Yesterday, when Jim and I walked down to Eyes to the Skies we noticed this:

I wonder how many people will show up? I’m going to go down and take photos of the Lisle Tea Party.

Of course, I’ll also swing by and take pictures of the the giant hot air balloons. right next to Riedy’s (on Maple avenue near the Jewel grocery store.)

  1. Personally I’m thinking hot air balloons and fireworks are a dangerous mix, but hey, it’s Illinois and them folks is crazy. Look at Lucia: she’s going to take pictures at a right-wing, anti-tax rally, leaving herself open to accusations of being an Obama spy. Wear a “Palin 2012” button, Lucia, for safety’s sake!

  2. Doug– Lisle is the “wild” town in Dupage county. We
    a) have fireworks and balloons at the same time,
    b) permit grocery stores to sell liquor and check out at the same cash register,
    c) sell beer and wine at the town festival (which some don’t permit at all) and we don’t even segregate those vendors into a special beer tent and
    d) we aren’t dry (like Wheaton.)

    Are they making Palin 2012 buttons yet? I’m sure TCO will want one!

    I’m from Will county originally, and yes, we used to make fun of the wasteland that is DuPage county; especially the Rt. 59 corridor. But you make Lisle sound like a party town, with explosions. Fun!

    I love this country. You can have any ol’ opinion you want, and people will sell that opinion to you. Happy Birthday, America!

  6. We’re between Downers Grove and Naperville. Looking at voting districts we are all carved up. I suspect our votes have never been considered “safe”. Mind you, this is not really a wild town. The corner of College/Yackley and Maple is occupied by
    a) North east: A convent.
    b) South east: A monestary
    c) South west: Benedictine University ( a Catholic University)
    d) Benet Academy: ( A Catholic Highschool.)

    But this still makes us not quite like the other towns in DuPage. Wheaton College in Wheaton recently decided to permit it’s students to .. … you’ll never believe this…. it’s shocking…. DANCE!

    So, you can see how our permitting beer vendors to sell right next to the lemonade, brats, corn dogs etc. is just wild!

  7. I’m one o’ those Karl Rove paid bozo’s who are worried about the government spending too much. I certainly hope that you aren’t going to suggest that the people there are all crazy and clueless like CNN. I might have to disown you. 😉

    Seriously though, I think that independent of one’s general political views the enormous debt that is being piled on the backs of us youngin’s by our elders is disconcerting.

  8. Andrew_FL: I’m back. I stayed through the drizzle, but I left when it started pouring. I’ll post pictures. I need to create a very short youtube video of John Arrington who is throwing his hat in to the US senate race. I only got the tail end of his speech.
