UAH TTL October Quatloo Betting.

Time to bet on October’s Temperature Anomaly which will be reported by Dr. Roy Spencer the first few days in November. Visitors from blog action day are welcome to try guessing the anomaly along with the rest of us. Regular readers know that we have some advance warning on this based on daily readings from the Channel 5 AMSU. Because Roy Spencer uses a different satellite to compute the temperature anomaly for the month, guessing the anomaly is not easy!

To help everyone bet, I’ve plotted October’s anomalies posted for October. As you can see, the troposphere remains warm: UAHOctober

To enter a bet, fill out the form below. You can enter until sometime late on Sunday October 25!
Results older than 2 months are not displayed avoid taking my site down.
Note to Europeans, the data base wants to see decimal places, not commas. So, enter values like 0.42 not 0,42. Thanks!

Frequently asked questions:

  1. What’s a Quatloo? A quatloo is a monetary unit on the planet Triskelion.
  2. Can I change my bet? Yes. Just enter a new bet. The program will count your final bet in any particular pool.
  3. What’s my email used for? To avoid thinking everyone named “jim” or “joe” are the same person, my betting script sorts by email address. However, your email will not be displayed; your winnings are displayed by name.
  4. Could the script used for betting be screwed up? Yes. If it’s pretty new but it’s been working fine. Let me know if anything goes wrong.
  5. Will the script used for betting be improved over time? Yes. Sometime. I’m planning to write a portion to track and post the long term winnings soon.
  6. When will results be announced? Results are scheduled to be announced as quite soon after Dr. Spencer posts his observations. However, last month, family matters interfered. I anticipate posting results by Nov. 6, 2009.

  1. Lucia, it appears that the October data I see is September. Especially since it states September 20 on the graph.

  2. IMO, It’s going to be a pretty big drop because of all the arctic air that came through during OCT.

  3. Oops, I think I just typed 3.0 instead of 0.30. No way I think that there’s going to be an anomaly that high!!! By the way, I used the incredibly sophisticated model of subtracting 0.12 from last month’s winner.
