Bet on May UAH!
I can’t. First, I’d like to know what April UAH is. Otherwise it’ll just be a wild guess. Ahem!
Anybody know how the tornado recovery is coming? I saw that Roy’s tool showing raw temperatures is back up, with a big gap the end of last month. I imagine that collecting and processing the data from when they were down is going to take a bit longer. Both my and my family’s hearts go out to everyone who had to experience that outbreak.

Yep. I coded this to auto-post. Little did I know that tornado strikes would delay the april UAH. You’ll just have to WAG!
Speaking of betting…
It Derby Day. 🙂
You know horses and humans are astonishing creatures by themseleves. But sometimes, the horse will let the human sit on his (and her) back, and ride…

Morning AndrewKy! Pants on Fire! 😉 for the Derby. Cause’ I like the name. My own horse’s name was Fascination. But his barn name was Jamil (or Jamilee Bug. ;)) He was an Arabian. He died about 10 yrs ago. I miss him so much. Nothing more awesome in all the world then riding a horse!
Hi liza! 🙂
I used to work on an Arabian horse farm down the road from my parents when I were a lad. Been in love with horses ever since, so I can understand how you miss your Jamil. I miss the days hangin’ around there.

April UAH anomaly is now out: +0.12C.
They were already blooming at the end of March, as they have done most of the last 10 years, everywhere I lived. So no, I’m not feeling lucky.
Neven–
I envy you. My peonies are usually in full bloom by Mother’s Day. The plants have fully emerged but there is no sign of any blooms. I think those are about 3 weeks behind. I’m waiting for the ground to warm enough to plant my basil. I think it may be warm enough to risk putting the tomato starts out– I always risk those early.
The weather has been lovely– but summer is slow in coming and we turned the furnace back on yesterday when the 90 year old inlaws complained they were cold. Jim told his dad he’s turn the heat to 68F just for him! (We set the daytime temperature to 65F during the winter. We just wear sweaters.)

The wife has pushed me in past years to get the basil in early, but I have now convinced her that we do not plant it before June 1. She makes die-for-pesto and other basil dishes. I have planted basil early and have always had to replant it.
The wife also likes a 65 degree thermostat setting that sometimes invokes thermostat wars, since we are both retired and home most of the day. My wife is not green, but rather warm, as the thermostat stays at 65 in the summer and in fact year round.
My peony plants are about ready to flower and now I need to pick off some of the buds and put the cages around the plants.
