Happy New Years, 2012

While men watch football
New Years Day snow tumbles down;
the winter wind howls.

Happy New Years! I’m staying warm wearing toasty slippers and a thick sweater while I sip hot apple cider. Soon, I plan to eat cookies. For those wondering: A very, very small amount of snow fell, but the wind really has been howling on and off.

  1. Humm… Today 78 F high, now 67F, calm. Tomorrow, a little cooler.

    Why don’t those national labs relocate to Florida?

  2. Come rain or come shine,
    Swift, thunderous justice falls
    From Tom Brady’s arm.

    Happy new “La Nada” year (according to the world-renowned predictions of the Old Farmer’s Almanack for 2012).

  3. SteveF–
    December was mostly above average in temperature here. But…. it was December. And now January, which is generally worse.

  4. Jan 2nd here in Melbourne. We just got back – v hot on the road. Exactly 100F, heading, we’re told, to 105. A bit cooler tomorrow. The first real heat of the summer.

  5. Andrew_KY: I made macaroons and the guys ate them while watching the Bears game. They said “Sweet!” (Actually, they like the macaroons because those aren’t too sweet. Other cookies tend to be sugar/fat bombs these are more fat/sugar bombs. I’m going to buy more coconut after working out– and make a lower carb version this afternoon. I’ll post both recipes!)

  6. “IÒ€ℒll post both recipes!”

    Lucia,

    Are they easy enough for a baking-challenged bachelor to make? πŸ˜‰
