Another Survey!!

Argghh.. Another online survey; this one at The Telegraph.

In the article, we read the magic prose that is supposed to make everyone believe the consensus:

Such a suggestion sits at odds with the scientific consensus. One recent survey of 12,000 academic papers on climate change found 97 per cent agree human activities are causing the planet to warm.

Even thogh my answer is “yes, mostly”, reading that stupid schpiel makes me want to fill in “no” and submit. I did so:
Survey

Of course, ever since the stupid Lewandowsky survey (which could be answered repeatedly using proxies) I’ve been curious about how many times one can answer a survey. So I reloaded and answered “no” again.
I repeated. On repeating, the message tells me “Thank you, we have already counted your vote. “. So I cleared cookies and also the persistent cookies (the latter are easily cleared with the Better Privacy Plugin for WordPress). Then I voted again. This time I got “thank you for voting”.

This looks like yet another survey that can be answered repeatedly. But maybe the secretly check IPs? Well maybe, but you can use a proxy IP; easy-peasy.

At least unlike Lewandowsky, the Telegraph is unlikely to say their results are scientific.

  1. You’ve illustrated a simple and important point here – exaggerated claims by climate activists make people more sceptical. Will they ever learn?

  2. The Telegraph is the home of James Delingpole. They are rarely accused of promoting the consensus. I think the magic phrases you quote are from Tim Yeo, not the Tele.

  3. The Telegraph is also the home of Louise “barking” Gray. Delingpole is blogging/opinion. Loopy Lou (science/enviroment) is a fully paid up churnalist, guaranteed to reproduce under her byline any press release on “environment” as long as it is suitably alarmist. No science or critical analysis neccesary.

  4. Telegraph is also home to Geoffrey Lean – who makes Louise writing look sensible. Delingpole is just a blogger there
