Happy Easter everyone!

Falling just at the end of March, the weather is perfect. Jim will grill lamb; we’ll have asparagus and hollandaise, Pillsbury crescent rolls (because Jim’s brothers love those.) Hope you all have fun.
BTW: I like this idea of eggshells to start seeds. I may need to get some herbs and tomatoes started in the window.
Lucia,
How’d you get the eggs to stand?
[Edit: I guess I could look at the link you provided before asking questions, sorry. π ]
Well, there are suggestions out there on how to make a stand, in case anyone else is curious.
mark,
You can do what Columbus was supposed to have done, barely break the end of the egg so it has a flat surface. A pile of salt works too. Easiest of all, though is an egg carton with the top removed.
DeWitt,
.
I have honestly never heard of that. I can break the end of the egg and make a flat surface huh.
.
I go google that! Thanks!
Ham, greenbean casserole, corn casserole, sweet potato casserole (gosh, that’s a lot of casserole right there), birthday cake (one of the kids), and cresent rolls too.
Happy Easter to Lucia and everyone! π
Behold, He makes all things new.

mark,
‘columbus egg’ will get you there. Of course if you have an egg carton, you don’t need the shells to start seeds.
Happy Easter all.
We’re having lamb with a green olive, garlic. lemon zest and olive oil coating roasted with Yukon Gold potatoes and roasted asparagus.
No hollandaise, though. I make Eggs Benedict at New Years and you probably shouldn’t eat hollandaise more than once per year. I put more lemon in my hollandaise than is traditional, but I really like lemon and nobody at the New Years party complains.
My wife is laughing at me because I didn’t realize that lamb is an Easter dish. It does make sense when you think about it I guess. π

Thanks Easter Rabett. π That was interesting.
Nice photo, but the plants in the eggshells are clearly not seedlings but cuttings from adult plants.
I think you agree if you take a second look.
The Thyme is flowering! And the Rosemary… maybe the cotyledons could have withered away already but… that’s not a seedling.
I wouldn’t recommend the propagation method for either seedlings or cuttings but it looks very nice π
Hope you all had a nice Easter.
Today’s Forecast: “Temperatures are going to feel “winter-like” when you head out the door.”
I’m disappointed that Global Warming is not functioning as advertised, as I’d like to start planting my veggie garden.
Andrew
Today’s Forecast: “The weekend begins with winter-like conditions.”
They keep using the word “winter”. I don’t know if I like that so much. π
Andrew
Andrew – we’ve had about an inch of snow in the last hour and it’s still coming down…
Terry,
My forecast said I might find some snow on flower petals this weekend. You guys got flowers up there (MN)? π
Andrew
Andrew – not yet, but we will… eventually!! π
FWIW, Rush Limbaugh appears to have endorsed Ted Cruz.

I put some of my garden pics up here:

Nice pics, Andrew. We’re still 2 weeks out from planting; still a decent chance of frost before the middle of May.
TerryMN, I can vaguely remember snow in Minneapolis on Mayday, probably early ’50s. or at least in Richfield.
Good luck.

Thank you, TerryMN. My veggies are off to a good start, and I have to give half credit to the GF who has been agreeable to contribute some free and dirty labor. π I hope we get to see some of what you have going in a couple of weeks!
Andrew
Rather late in the game for that. Trump has started winning absolute majorities, not just pluralities. Picking a Vice President didn’t work for Reagan in 1976 and it won’t work for Cruz. He’s made too many enemies.
The only question now is whether the delegates ‘bound’ to Trump on the first ballot will actually vote for him. They’re all party regulars and most of them don’t like Trump.
Saturday’s WSJ had a piece about left wing organizations pressuring corporations to not contribute to the Republican Party convention fund. Here’s a similar article from the NYT.
Note how the NYT refers to them as “activist groups.” No bias here.
This sort of thing might make me vote for Trump, against my better judgement.
I wanna see garden pics from The Blackboard Commenting Crew!

Mine looks fairly empty so far – small plants and a bunch of space the cucumbers will occupy later this summer.

We had a hard freeze last night w/lows in the high 20s; lost all of the tomatoes and peppers, and about half the flowers. That’s the latest freeze we’ve had in the 25 years we’ve lived in the house. Time to start over, I guess.
