The spam filter is blocking spam, but also some people. The stated reason is “invalid token”.
The filter (WP Bruiser) “saves” the blocked comments for 30 days, but it puts them in a special purpose report and I don’t seem to be able to move them to comments. I also seem to only be able to see recently blocked comments. So I can’t find everyone who has been blocked. 🙁
I have whitelisted ranges of two people who have been blocked: Tom Scharf and SteveF.
If you think you have been blocked, let me know. I can find your typical IP ranges and whitelist them.
Open thread. 🙂
Update: I found another page in the WP-Bruiser reports. All of the following were blocked at least once: SteveF, Mark Bofill, Tom Scharf, Dewitt Payne, Russel Klier. Possibly more. It wasn’t personal. You aren’t banned or intentionally moderated. It’s all for “invalid token”. I’ve googled, I have no idea what that is. I’ve white listed the 0/24 ranges around your IP. That should fix things for you. (The filter is blocking lots of obnoxious spam too by the way.)
Might have something to do with a caching plugin, from what I read. Might not. Shrug. [Edit: No, it might be anything. Invalid token comes up a lot according to the random reports out there!]
Thanks again Lucia.
Lucia, I remember when mine was blocked. I pondered at the time about what might have done it and came up empty. The content and words were a bit empty-headed but innocuous. (A less crusty individual would have felt slighted.) If it happens again I will do a better job of analyzing the problem.
Do you think we may be being targeted by nefarious Liberals?
Russel,
I don’t think we are being targetted by anyone. I use a spam plugin. It seemed to be fine but I didnt’ really check. I checked into glitches after Steve F posted. If there are many more and whitelisting doesn’t help I’ll try a different spam plugin.
It does have a time feature. Your comment will be blocked if it takes less than 3 seconds to submit from page load. I could lower that. But the reason it gives is “invalid token”. So… dunnno.
Lucia, My comment that was blocked was a short one, so maybe the time thing is doing it.
I’ve changed it to 1 second. We’ll see if anyone else gets blocked or if any spam gets through.
Immunity to the Coronavirus May Persist for Years, Scientists Find
Important immune cells survive in the bone marrow of people who were infected with the virus or were inoculated against it, new research suggests.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/26/health/coronavirus-immunity-vaccines.html
.
“Immunity to the coronavirus lasts at least a year, possibly a lifetime, improving over time especially after vaccination, according to two new studies. The findings may help put to rest lingering fears that protection against the virus will be short-lived”
“In fact, memory B cells produced in response to infection with SARS-CoV-2 and enhanced with vaccination are so potent that they thwart even variants of the virus, negating the need for boosters, according to Michel Nussenzweig, an immunologist at Rockefeller University in New York who led the study on memory maturation.
“People who were infected and get vaccinated really have a terrific response, a terrific set of antibodies, because they continue to evolve their antibodies,†Dr. Nussenzweig said. “I expect that they will last for a long time.â€
The result may not apply to protection derived from vaccines alone, because immune memory is likely to be organized differently after immunization, compared with that following natural infection.”

DeWitt should be quite happy, ha ha.
On a completely different note, today was the first day in over a year that I didn’t have to wear a mask at all on my house restocking trip. Walmart and Kroger (it’s called King Soopers out here) were mask free last week but today I hit the 7/11 and liquor store and both were too. Oddly around 2/3rds were still masked in the grocery stores and I was the only one without a mask in the 7/11 or liquor store. I figured when the dam broke it would really break. There also seems to be a cultural split out here in Denver. Lotsa Hispanics still in masks while lotsa old (like me) white folks ditching them.
On topic for this thread, first time I submitted my above comment it didn’t work. So I hit refresh previous page and submitted again.
Tom Scharf,
I’m pleased that the NYT has finally printed something positive that goes against the previous dogma. However, I likely still won’t get vaccinated soon unless there is something I need to do that requires proof of vaccination and won’t accept a previous positive PCR test (with symptoms) as proof of probable immunity.
Considering the state of Trump’s relations to the IC, do you really need to ask this question? [Answering a rhetorical question with another one.]
Jerry,
You’re comment was, indeed blocked for “invalid token”. I’ve got it set to block with less than 1 second. Yours was long enough I can’t imagine it took less than 1 second.
.
I’m going to look into another spam blocker.
Just trying to help. Logically my medium length post didn’t fit in any of the scenarios mentioned. And I’m a complete lurker so you can rule out any posting history. The previous page refresh and submit that Tom(?) mentioned seems to work though.
Thanks Jerry,
It is helpful. I could go see that it was blocked and the only info given was “invalid token”. I can’t make the plugin author make things work better so if this persists, I’ll need to get a new plugin.
.
Obviously, we can’t have every person who wants to comment need to figure out ‘the secret handshake’.
SteveF,
I agree with everything you said. To answer your question as to “why”…….
I am curious as to the details of how this virus went from non-existent to a world wide scourge. I want to now how it was formulated, how it got established in humans and how it spread. Since I am certain the normal channels of discovery have all already been negated by the CCP, only the covert methods have a chance. The covert investigation will not reveal the details to protect sources and methods. I’m still in a pickle.
I’m going to move comments about the virus to the new post. You’ll see why it’s appropriate. 🙂

Are people able to see the dcurbanmom.com blog?
Various websites say it is up. I try going to it and it is down, even if I use a web proxy like kproxy.com.
I can. I’d never heard of it though.
