  1. Full disclosure on my entry:

I am in a weekly NFL football pool, and my “friends” noticed an apparent inverse correlation between my picks, and the actual winners.

Accordingly, they started betting the reverse of my picks.

Happily, with their winnings, they did buy me beer…..

  2. Sorry, I guess I failed the bet math test; 17 = 10001 in binary numerology. BTW, my bet is 4.22.

  3. When you calculate the standard deviations, are you including the error distribution of the individual series or not?
What amount of the data points fall within 1 and 2 standard deviation?

  4. Can I also predict that March might be around 0.46? Where is the fun in predicting the temperature for a month that has already happened….

Well… if the web page providing the data reported data actually used by UAH, there would be no fun. But…. it isn’t used by UAH. So, it’s still hard to guess.

But, yes, I usually post the betting script sooner.

  6. I don’t have a horse in this race but I thought I would drop a line about the new temp. data for Feb. just posted by Roy Spencer. UAH recently changed how they adjust for seasonal variations. The link “Latest Temperature” says +6.1 deg. C (v. 5.3). You need to go to the NEWEST post for an explanation of the new adjustments and to see a comparison of 2009 and 2010 temps. between v5.2(old) and v5.3(new). The trend is the same, I just thought that all you gamblers out there might want to use the OLD anomaly, +.74, for the purposes of this current pool.
